Record Running Totals
September is looking like a high mileage month! Jared and I have been racing to see who can get more miles per week. We ended with an actual race!

Whoa.... What the heck happened to me?
Guess I went into hiding for just short of a year. It's so much easier with a hash tag one word Instagram or Twitter. However, I do like going back and reading what the heck I was thinking or where I thought life was taking me with the blog.
I'm currently out of "running retirement". I was able to do 26 running miles and 11 bike miles last week. That was progress! I'm not a fan of the bike. We are trying to go once a week. I've been eating like crap and really need to get better about food. I'm still up about 10 pounds from where I feel good about myself.

Marathon.... or Not
Last year I ran the Eugene Half Marathon. So this year I thought, I guess I should bump it up to the Full Marathon. As I went for my run today, I ran 8.26 miles, which was my goal for the day, but the thought of going an additional 18 miles is so overwhelming, I'm not sure that I can even imagine what it might be like to go the distance. The aches and pains that I feel after running make me think that no amount of training will get me ready and only injuries are in my future. How can I possibly prepare, get my mind and body to the place I need to be?
Thursday night was the last of the Oregon Track Club Series of races for the year. My friend Suzy and I did all eight of the races in the series. I finished this 5K with a pace of 7:58, overall time of 24:42.
Awesome year of racing! 5K seems to be a perfect race.

Tent Camping 101
August 18-19, 2012
My second tent camping trip EVER! I loved it. We had the best time. It was very relaxing and really not all that bad to sleep in a tent. Although I was ready for my bed after the second night.

South Sister Hike 7/3/2012
| 6.25 to the top |

What a GREAT day!
I took a Friday off of work and went to hike South Sister with my friend. 12.5 miles total and it took us 8.5 hours with rest time included. It was a hard hike with some steep scree covered sections and other sections still snow covered. Other than being exhausting it was a wonderful day. It was 37 degrees when we left the parking lot but I was warm and in a tank top 20 minutes into the hike and never needed to add clothing even at the top. My calf muscles really got a workout on the way up, I just went slow and steady.
There were probably about only 40 people hiking the day we were there, although we had heard there are usually more. A young woman at the top was getting ready to release her creamated mother. There was also a group of 15 for a family reunion. Everyone was friendly and enjoying the beauty the mountain had to offer. I loved it and am looking forward to the next big hike.

All-Comers Meet 7/12/2012
![]() |
| Aaron, Suzy, Me, Mary, & Jo |
July 12, 2012 was the OTC All-Comers meet (See my 100M video with the attached link). I ran the Joggers mile (7:28) and finished 4th in my heat in the 100M (17sec). I felt FAST in both. Ha Ha. Looking back at the video, apparently I was all but fast in either. The girl that finished first in the 100M was FAST and looked great, but after all, 17 seconds is over pretty quick so it feels pretty fast. Oh and the first three finishers were all in their early twenties. Several people that ran the "Joggers" mile were also very fast and looked great like it was so easy. Aaron ran with me and kept me motivated. It was in the upper 80's and I was hot and tired. I know Aaron could have run so much faster but he was so motivational, I was thankful to have him by my side when I finished.
Today, 7/15/12, I ran 5.25 miles. It was actually the first time in awhile that running actually felt good. I ran slower than I would normally so that I could just actually get some distance in (distance for me). I know that running will never be anything that I'm good at, but it does make it so that I can eat pizza and drink beer, so it's a win win!!!
After running we all went out for pizza and beer. It was a great All-Comers meet and a great evening with friends.

July 4, 2012 weekend
Butte to Butte 2012. Finish time 56:59. Less than and hour, but I was sure I could finish in a much faster time, huh, guess not! As the race started it became apparent that it was going to be slow going, I even trained on the hill and during training did much better than I actually had on race day. Guess it just wasn't my day.
After the race we went to breakfast! Yum! I had time to go home shower and take a quick power nap before heading to the Rodeo with my husband to volunteer at the Chris Kilcullen booth. www.chriskilcullenmemorialride.com We had a great time with friends and also meeting and chatting with new people.
Then came the privacy wall on Thursday and Friday. It took us an entire day to decide on materials. Then the calculations began, I, of course, was the supervisor!
Now, I think my backyard is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Saturday was a wedding in Sister's, OR. On the way back we stopped for a hike at Sahalie Falls.
It was a GREAT holiday!
